What say you learned ones?

 

Would you try acetone on this?

I don't use acetone on dirt but I have never tried. It may or may not work. (Waiting for BadThad...)

I have tried several things on black "dirt" and had really no luck so far. I have tried verdi-care, olive oil (still soaking for one month), and acetone and it hasn't budged.

 

I have actually been working on some before after pictures of different attempts but just can't seem to find the time to upload them. Maybe this long weekend coming up.

When we were kids we'd take some Comet and tooth brush and clean them right up.

Keep it original it is a solid XF with great patina.

EF-40, and DO NOT mess with it! That "dirt" actually increases the visual sharpness, making it look superior to the technical grade.
