Do you Appreciate Rare and Unusual Coins ?

This "Black Beauty" is mentioned in Frank Spadone's Book Major Variety-Oddity Guide to United States Coins. Here is a 1959 Jefferson "Black-Beauty". Quality was a real problem for this year, and much of this Issue were Dark or Black in Color, with many surface nicks.

Mark-Free Gems,(Like this one) is scarce and hard to find. The 1958 Jefferson had most of these Black Beauties, where in this year (1959) only a few were found. This extraordinary coin has a distinctive very dark finish from being Sintered, or left in the Furnace too long during the Annealing Process. After all that

(over-cooking) the Eye Appeal of this coin was like a "Diamond In The Rough."

(Notice the Quality,Clean field's on this coin). This Jefferson Nickel is considered a - Dark/Gem Coin, where only a few were found in this Superb-Condition.
