GTG - 1950 Monaco 50 Francs Essai - NGC

There aren't too many foreign coins posted here, so I thought I'd mix it up a little. This is a Essai strike in Silver of the 1950 Monaco 50 Francs coin. It comes from a total mintage of 500 pieces. These coins are designated as "SP" by PCGS, but strangely, NGC has graded some as "PF" and some as "MS". Nonetheless, the true designation is something like a trial strike, thus the likely reason for the confusion.

 

The purple/blue tones are common on these pieces, as this one exhibits some of those colors on the reverse. I'm attaching the de-identified label for clarification of the coin designation.
