Post Something "Cool"

I know that there is no rare or extremely valuable item here in this copper but I liked them quite a bit. I liked them even more based on the fact that it is currency for the Lakota Indian Nation and they had the ? weighwos ? to end their treaty with the US Government and mint their own currency backed only by copper, silver, or gold.

The information on the web site is interesting read and when I get the chance I am going to buy a roll or two of the 1oz silver rounds too,

Wish all those rolls were silver.

That must feel really good in your hands as compared to a 10 Gram or even one of my 1 Oz Bars. Very nice!

Here's something kida cool I picked up. I like it for 2 reasons---

1. It has a sailing ship== the US Constellation (which sits in Baltimore Harbor) and as many of you know I have a huge collection of sailing ship numismatica and world coins.

2. The obverse has Lord Cecil Calvert ( son of the original Lord Baltimore) the founder of Maryland in 1634--and I am a longtime resident of Calvert County here in Chesapeake Bay country

With those 2 things--and of course the fact that it is from the ANA...snagging this was a no-brainer..........

Now that I started digging through some stuff....Here is something related......

US Constellation Medal--struck at the US Mint in Philly by order of Congress and made of .900 silver. The funds were used to restore the old ship--which is the oldest US Naval Vessel still in existence. This is the first ( and only to my knowledge) Congressional Medal for a US Navy Fighting Ship....

The Medal ( and paper authentication) gives the bearer of the medal free admission aboard the ship--lifetime--when at the Inner Harbor in Baltimore

Minted Sept 7th 1972.......
