1921 P Peace $1 VAM 3

Hello all,

 

I picked up a raw 1921 Peace dollar that is album toned. Turns out it is a VAM 3 variety. Would anybody like to take a shot at how you think this one might grade out? Thanks for any advice.

I see a few hairlines both on the obverse and the reverse that lead me to believe it has been cleaned long ago. Look at the cheek/jaw area and on the reverse left of the eagles wing in the field. They all go in the same general direction. I hope I'm wrong.

They don't look like hairlines to me, but what do I know. I'll say it's AU62.

AU 62? I hope you mean MS 62, or was that a Freudian slip? :-)

He means it's hard to tell with the picture and toning... so anywhere between AU and MS 62.

I mean it could be AU58 just as easily as it could be MS62.

I had the same thought; it looks like an old cleaning to me too.

Put me in the AU62 camp as well. +/- cleaning -- no smoking gun one way or the other, but milk spot on the upper wing would seem to be an indication of not cleaned.
