The problem with NGC prong holders (NGC reply posted)

Clear plastic prongs might be a partial solution.

 

Apparently, that is exactly what PCGS has just started doing. Their new holders are clear prong holders as shown and discussed ATS HERE.

PCGS has had those for years, haven't they? I thought they put those in for edge errors, and the new dollar coins.

 

They should follow NGC's lead and go exclusively to pronged holders.

Yes they've had them since 2007. They just haven't used them except on the President and NA dollars. They will probably eventually extend them to others. It's just like the NGC edgeview slabs have been around since 2002 but they were never used much until the President and NA dollars began, and then took a couple more years before they extended them to other series.
