Can this Quarter be Saved?

2 posts in this topic

I bought a three coin pin specifically for the 1917 quarter in the middle. There was a 1917 dime on each side of the quarter. I removed the dimes and tried to use heat on the dimes hoping the solder would just melt away but it didn't work as well as I had hoped. Since the quarter is what I am interested in I don't want to attempt it myself. Do you think you can get it off and make the coin look good again? On one of the side shots it looks like the solder is indented into the coin but it is not. It is only ON the quarter.

Thanks, Bob

From the looks of your images, it would appear that this quarter had been mounted as part of jewelry. While we may be able to remove residues from the surface of the coin, it would still be damaged.
