Re: Copper Spot Removal

3 posts in this topic

Dear NCS,

I am contemplating purchasing the Indian Head Cent imaged below; however, I have noticed several spots on the obverse near the legend, in the feathers, and in the front of the bust. Is there anything that can be done to remove these safely without damaging the attractive toning? With regards to the images, they are not mine, but I do have the permission of the coin owner/photographer to post them here.

This is a difficult coin to make any determinations on from the images. It may be possible to take steps to help reduce the amount of corrosion spots. Without actually having the coin in hand and determining the exact nature of it I am unable to make any further determination.
