Remove Some, But Not All, Toning From A Coin?

Lets assume I own a coin that has 100% dark blue/grey toning on the obverse.

 

Is it possible for NCS to only remove some of the toning to leave the coin with, say, only a desirable crescent shaped area of toning?

This is a frequent request of coins submitted to NCS for conservation. Depending on the specific coin this can be achieved. The nature of the toning on your coin might determine how the coin may actually come out.
