Have to admit it is fun to do

Greetings once again my fellow collectors of metal art. I am happy to state I have started another new journey into my newest collection. I have started a collection of Franklin Proofs. This time though I am doing it the raw way. I am purchasing raw Franklin Proofs and submitting them for grading. I plan on doing this for the entire set. I must admit I have never attempted this in the past as I have always relied on slabbed coins to fill my empty slots. Oh, I have added a few coins that I submitted raw for grading but for the most part it has been slabbed. So as I continue to build my Franklin's I will upgrade when I can. I have started with an initial entry of 7 Franklin's one of which I just received back from grading at NGC. The 1961 was returned to me with a grade of PF69. NGC has graded over 8000 Franklin's of the 1961 variety with none attaining a grade of PF70 and ONLY 30 graded PF69 with an additional 11 star attributes so I was really pumped to add this to my collection to start with. I am really looking forward to the coming summer as I build another collection. I have already purchased more raw Franklin's to be submitted for grading later.

I have added a photo of the 1961 with this journal.

Good hunting in finding the coins you need for those empty slots

WOW Mike that sounds like a lot of fun. I will keep an eye out for Proof rolls for you on my side. I just added 10 or more MS FBLs to my new Benji set. They are still listed elsewhere but should show by this weekend.

Good Luck Friend

What a great way to start!! You must have had trouble getting the smile off your face when that grade came through.

Outstanding coin and a tough date. Top of the line coin for Franklins! They never will grade a Franklin Half in 70 so that is a rare beast indeed. I checked my 2011 Whitman's Guide to Franklins and NGC has graded 281 PF69's for the entire Franklin PF issue from 1950 -1963, so I'd say you have a great eye for grading raw coins Moondoggy! Can't wait to see your next one,
