the raised bubbles are sometimes a sign of a fake...

Thanks for the heads-up. How can I tell for sure?

 

What about a technical grade?

Well for one these should not have all the raised bumps that are on this coin. It looks like a poor molding. Also this thing is soo dull I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't even silver. The brown spots could me some sort of rust forming due to the metal content.

I've had this coin for well over a decaded and can't even remember how or where I acquired it.

 

Here is a slightly closer image:

It appears that the area of disturbance runs in a straight line from about 3:00 to 10:00 on the coin. I'm not sure if that means anything.

 

Would love to hear more theories!

I'd agree with anyone who said that it is a crudely made counterfeit piece.
