Isn't JAP discriminative word for Japanese?

When the NGC database was first established in the 1980s, there were relatively few spaces available in each data field. This required a three-letter abbreviation for all country names. It was just an unfortunate coincidence that this resulted in Japan initially being abbreviated as JAP. When this problem was brought to NGC's attention, the abbreviation was changed to JPN. You simply have an old holder. If it bothers you, you can always send it in for Reholder service, and the label will be corrected.

For the past couple of years, JAPAN has been spelled out in full on our labels, though it still appears abbreviated as JPN in the world Census Report. Fixing this requires manual re-entry of every coin number. Working alphabetically, we got only as far as G.BRITAIN before the press of more urgent work stalled the process. It will be updated one day.
