2006 NGC MS70 ASE - Burnished Die

2 posts in this topic

Hi. I have two of these slabbed coins. When I purchased these, the seller stated these are burnished dies. What does burnished mean/signify, and does it add value? Also, any idea what these are worth?

Thanks!

Brad

Thank you for your question. The burnished silver eagles were Mint State issues struck on specially prepared (burnished) planchets. These burnished Uncirculated silver eagles were struck at the West Point mint and can be distinguished by the W mintmark. For values consult the NGC Coin Price Guide (link).
