Help I went a little crazy at an auction and don't know a thing about coins.

You may want to attend some coin shows in Salt Lake or Ogden were you can look at a many different graded Morgan dollars. This coin is obviosly cleaned because there is no mint luster left on the coin. The pictures are of such quality that we can not see the surfaces very well but the coin has the sheen of being cleaned. Look at a few hundred Morgan dollars in a show or at local coin dealers and you will learn about coin surfaces and what they should look like naturally.
