Token? Worth Anything?

6 posts in this topic

I'm guessing it is a token, but I am not sure. It is gold in color, but not sure if it is gold. Feels kinda light to be gold.

Can anyone identify it and tell me its value if any?

Most probably a modern "replica" from the 60's. Most originals are gold and carry a denomination. Probably none of the replicas are gold and very few have a denomination.

Found it - knew I'd seen that before. Whether it is genuine or not I cannot say. But you should be able to determine that with a little more research.

It is supposed to be a 1/2 dollar California gold token. That will help you in determining its authenticity. Copies do exist - some of them made in Japan. You can find an example of one on the following site ( one of the best I've found on tokens by the way ) - go about 2/3rds of the way down the page - you'll see it.

If you wish more info - contact Mike Locke - odds are he'll have it.
