My three best raw Toned GSA's

10 posts in this topic

Here are three of my beat toned GSA's for your enjoyment I hope.

The first is a common date with not so common toning, high grade also

The second is a better date 1881-cc with amazing tourquise toning.

The final one is an amazing coin trainbow toned over proof like surfaces.

It was my understanding that toned coins were not placed into uncirculated GSA holders. As such, I strongly suspect that the coin was added to a GSA holder after the GSA auction. Nevertheless, I like all three coins and they appear original, although I would question the GSA designation (unless they appear in GSA circulated holders, but you are using uncirculated to correctly denote the actual market grade). The coins could have toned after their sale, but to tone that much in 40 years seems suspect.

It's my understanding that uncirculated CC Morgans were placed in one of two GSA cases. If there was no toning on the coin, it went into an UNCIRCULATED SILVER DOLLAR case. If it had any toning, it was placed in a SILVER DOLLAR case.

PS. I like the 81-CC the best!
