What happened to the color of my coin?

1 post in this topic

I bought a nice toned coin to upgrade one spot but the coin went clear in about 10 days!

I just bought a 1936 buffalo nickel from a dealer at a auction site and in a week to ten days it lost its color!

I did nothing to the coin other then take it out of a card board flap and put it in a safety flap and take pictures of the coin!

The coin looked like it was naturally toned but it most of been artificially toned for this to happen.

I contacted the seller and he said there was no possible way that the coin could of lost its toning unless I put the coin in some kind of chemical!

I had purchased toned coins from this dealer before and the coins still have the original toning!

I guess this dealer was fooled just like I was as he still thinks it was naturally toned!
