Re: Starworthy Rainbow Toned Washington Quarter

It's very close, but I'll say no. If it were only rainbow toned like on the right, I'd say yes. But then there are the added dark flecks of ... well, whatever that is. To me that's a distraction. So, all in all, I'd have to say no. But I do very much like the crescent of color.

as a rule a star coin cannot have dark spots..toning must be colorful not dark brown or black...as for the grade of 67, it is difficult to ascertain the luster and I can't tell if the strike is full from the pics--( it makes it look as if there are no eagle breast feather details at all)...and of course hairlines don't show in pics very well so I couldn't grade with 3 of the 4 categories being a guess...

Gorgeous colors and the type of old crusty coin I love regardless....

I don't think it's star worth and the images make the coin look like there are quite a few hits on the obverse for the coin to be a MS67 but in hand that may not be the case.

Not worthy of the star in my opinion neither. But original double mint set toning, and the dark brown spotting is common with the date as well.

The coin looks pretty clean, but IMO I would grade this coin a ms66. OR I would see it that way in a pcgs holder or new ngc holder.

Sometimes with the old ngc fatty slabs they overgraded toned coins, especially in ms67.

Star – no however the right obverse color has great eye appeal – the spotty tone on the rest of the coin is what keeps it from getting a star.

MS67- hard to tell from your photos but the surface looks clean enough for MS 67.
