PGM Pre Civil War Pennies

6 posts in this topic

Hi all,

I'm a comic collector from the CGC boards and bounced over here because I got a box of old stuff from my uncle including some coins he collected as a kid. I took a look and don't think there's much that could valuable here but there were some very old American pennies. The year's are 1802, 1818,1848, 1842, and one with an illegable date. I know very litle about coin grading and this picture's garbage but I was hoping some of you fine people could help determine if these are anything worth holding onto...

I'd appreciate any insight.

Honestly not worth much. And, hard to tell from those photos. I have some up in the Marketplace, about that same grade, and people aren't jumping on those at $5 a piece.

Check that link out and see if it's similar to what you have.

The images are blurry, but here are some possibilities:

top left (1842) VG

top center (1848?) VG/cleaned

top right (1802?) Good

bottom left AG

bottom center (1818) VG/corroded

2-cent Fine
