Nice grades.

I imagine the '84-P dime was a mint set coin.

Thanks.

The dimes were coins I bought raw at a coin show about 4 years ago, when I was collecting moderns. I stopped collecting until this year and I had these coins lying around and I sent them to NGC.

I love seeing your dimes on this board!

Is PCGS FB the same as NGC's FT?

If im not mistaken, PCGS FB are exactly just that. Both bands are fully split. NGC FT, bands are also fully split but the lines going up the torch must also be full and maybe even the flame on the torch needs to be in full detail.

Sorry but this is not the case!!

The PCGS “Full Bands” designation requires that both the upper and lower pair of bands on the torch to appear distinct and show full separation. The line dividing the bands must be full and unbroken.

NGC's criteria for the designation are somewhat different than PCGS’s and arguably more strict. In addition to requiring the upper and lower pair of horizontal bands to show full separation, NGC also requires that the vertical lines of the torch must be defined.

So just because you have FB by PCGS doesn't mean it will cross to NGC holder but a NGC FT will always cross to a PCGS holder.

Very nice grades. As a collector of FB / FT dimes I can appreciate your coins/grades. I have been collecting well struck post silver dimes for a few years but have not submitted anything for a couple years. I have pages and pages of 2x2 held dimes that beg to be submitted but am leery, especially of PCGS.

As for PCGS, my experience is that they are all over the map. An example was with two separate submissions of two coins that had monster luster, complete torch detail and full deep bands under any magnification, not a bag mark to be found... One was a 1996w and the other a 1994D... The 1996w came back top pop MS68FB while the 1994D was enclosed in a MS65 holder... These were identical coins in appearance and condition and the 1994D is now back in a 2x2. To top it off another really ugly FT / FB 1995D came back as an MS67.

I appreciate that NGC has that stricter standard but have wondered why they have no price data. They should carry a premium IMO.

anyway... congrats on the Lincolns as well.
