How can you track ore or bullion from the mine to the Mint?

I've found newspaper articles that state the Mint bought certain quantities of bullion for coinage from specific mines, but these records seem spotty.

 

Does the National Archives have records from the Mint delineating how much silver bullion was purchased from which specific mine or reduction works on specific dates? I'm looking to trace silver mined from the Comstock and eastern California in the early to mid 1870s.
