Carbon spots.

Carbon spots are not really flaws, because they weren't evident at the time the coin was made. These appear when tiny contaminants at the coin's surface react with the atmosphere. They have only a very minor impact on grading, and some buyers appreciate them as a sign of originality in the coin's surfaces. Others, particularly people new to the coin hobby, find them distracting.
