My first Morgan planchet flaw and....................

.............I didn't even realize it until I got it in-hand and put it under the microscope.

From the second photo, you can just barely see that there is a crack at the rim, but since it is in an NGC MS63* slab, I'm not going to crack it out of the slab to see how far it goes into the edge. Do you think Leroy Van Allen would classify this as an R-8? Thanks, Shane!

The flaw is more specifically a lamination, right?

 

Correct, James, but you can barely see between the denticles where it looks like the planchet is cracked to the edge.
