NGC Copper Guarantee

2 posts in this topic

Hi,

This is the current NGC Copper Guarantee:

1. The NGC Coin Grading Guarantee does not apply to copper, bronze or copper-nickel coins graded by NGC prior to April 1, 2000.

2. To the extent that the NGC Coin Grading Guarantee applies to copper, bronze or copper-nickel coins, such Guarantee expires on the 10-year anniversary of their date of encapsulation by NGC.

I have an NGC PF 66RB Indian Cent in an old fatty holder. Is there a way to know when this coin was encapsulated?

Can I send the coin in prior to the 10 year limit and have it regraded? If so, will this add another 10 years to the guarantee?

Thanks

The so-called "fatty" holders were discontinued around 15 years ago, so these would not be covered under the guarantee.

You can send a coin in for regrade at any time, and the guarantee period would commence with the new date of encapsulation. The guarantee would not apply to any copper or copper-nickel coin graded prior to April 1, 2000.
