Perhaps. It might also be real and simply corroded.

 

Sorry I think this coin has been bad since the day it was cast. It's a crude counterfeit IMO. That lump behind the king's neck is a major problem.

kind of looks like a crude chinese copy coming out of china the last year or so

 

and they should get progressively better if in hand the coin is cast and not just a corroded original mint product

It looks fake to me. But as someone else pointed out, corroded coins can look remarkably similar to cast counterfeits.

 

In this case, there's too much surface aberration to suggest a genuine coin, so I vote "cast".
