Enhance luster with this gem 1916 Buffalo

5 posts in this topic

Recently got this very nice 1916 Buffalo. On another board a member said what might keep this coins from going over ms66 is the lack of luster. Does this coin really lack it? i am not normally a buffalo collector. How to impove the luster? Best send it to NCS, leave it alone or what?

the third picture was taken by the seller under obviously perfect lighting conditions.

thanks!

I don't think it lacks luster though it is always best to judge in hand. With good lighting, rotate and swivel the coin to get a perspective.

You can't add luster to a coin. So don't bother with NCS.

You are being generous with your comment about the seller's photo. That isn't "ideal" lighting. Color has been enhanced through contrast and/or saturation. White balance is probably off too. But the appearance has definitely been artificially "improved".

Lance.
