Didn't we already settle this on another one of the message boards hear under "Buddy can you spare a grade?" Number 1 is clearly artificially toned. Number 2 is hard to decipher from those photos; however, another board member posted revealing photographs of this coin which clearly shows that it is artificially toned.

In summation:

1.) Both are 100% artificially toned

2.) NCS might be able to remove some of the toning or you could dip it, but the coins are not worth the fees or the time to do it yourself

3.) Artificial toning is often performed to mask even greater problems (i.e. alterations, etc. especially on more expensive coins [as a side note for future reference])

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Albert Einstein

He actually posted this thread here first, and then posted it to a more fitting sub-forum, as this question doesn't deal with conservation. I'd don't believe he had the option to delete this thread as it had already received a post.

This one could have easily been deleted, as it did not get an initial reply until

#3763235 - 02/03/10 03:24 PM, 2 weeks later and long after the other thread had run its course...

Although - Perhaps he did not "expect" different results and may not have known posts could be edited/deleted... We give everything else away in this country, why not the benefit of the doubt?
