Trivia Question (Early Half Dollars)

8 posts in this topic

There are two prominent 1795 Half Dollar varieties: Re-cut date and 3 leaves. How many Overton die marriages comprise these two Red Book varieties? Name their Overton numbers. (As you do some looking up, you'll find something interesting...)

OK, I will try again with another partial answer. There is no more than two die marriages each for the re-cut date and three leaves. If my memory is correct (ha!), the 3 leaves has one and the re-cut date has two. I collect draped bust, heraldic eagle halves by die variety (shhsh...they are a bargain relative to early dollars!), the flowing hair halves are a bit too expensive for me right now.
