Who figures the point total for a coin ?

Not that it means a whole lot but this one put a smile on the face.....AGAIN.

A collector entered a 1931P Merc Dime in MS65FB and got 1283 points for the coin. 99 of the coins have been graded at NGC in mint state FB with 45 of these being MS65 and 9 coins higher. The chance of many more being graded for this date.....SLIM.

Same collector entered a 1936P Merc Dime in MS67FB and received 941 points for the coin. Wow only 351 of these have been grade mint state FB by NGC with 44 of them being MS67FB and 1higher. The chance of many more of these being graded.......Excellent.

Out of date NGC with your point totals or just plain do not care if the Registry point totals reflect the TRUE VALUE and SCARCITY of a given coin ?

Hmmmm........ 893frustrated.gif

I think you answered your own question.

The "slim" coin has a higher point value than the "excellant" coin.

Isn't that the way it is supposed to be?
