government confiscate gold?

Technically that is not the case. Presidents do not Legislate. This is the area of Congress. All Legislation must originate in the House where there are 435 members Therefore it takes 218 members to either pass or prevent Legislation from beinf introduced. The have had 230 members since Jan 20. 2007.Now they have 256 members, They had the votes in the House over two years ago and now they have a super majority. If J.C. was the Presiden then all He could do would be to veto the Bill. What you have is somebody of the same persuasion to "rubber stamp" the Legislation. If Obama would have been elected with a Majority then it Obama would still only have the choice to pass our veto it. It takes 50% +1 to pass it and it takes 2/3 to over-ride the veto . There are just no checks and balances now but Obama can recommend, pass or veto but can[t by himself dirve it deeper into debt. That is Congress.

You are certainly technically correct.

But Obama has a lot of clout and of course has the executive branch of the government under his control. And Congress gets much of their background material from office holders that they base their decisions on.

There are some powers which the president can exercise if he can figure out an emergency to present.

If it came down to another gold confiscation, which I doubt, they could only confiscate what they know about. The easiest target would be the gold IRAs.

My gold is off the grid and is guarded by copper of various conical shapes & calibers.
