Mint coins set pricing puzzle

2 posts in this topic

Trying to price a 4 coin Winter Olympic 2002 set. Coin values mag has a silver $1 and a $5 gold half eagle priced but my set has a proof and uncirculated version of each coin. How does one price an uncirculated gold $5 coin assuming CV mag is pricing proofs ?

I had to take them out of the case as photographing them in case is next to impossible.

Uncir. gold coin is in lower left corner. Puzzled, Pat

The four piece set is listed on the Gray Sheet @ $650 / $700.

That's rather crazy because the inidivual coins add up to $706 at the bid price.

Dealers will try to get $650 to $710 for the set, so I doubt that you can get $650 for it. My guess is that the wholesale level is around $600 for the four piece set.
