Anybody know what kind of coin this is?

Anyone know what kind of coin this is? I think it may be gold, and it is small probably the size of a penny. I know the pics suck, but it is all I have.

It reminds me of Byzantine era coinage, but this is far from my area, so I'll let others more knowledgeable answer.

The coin is a gold Zecchino (ducat) from Venice. It should weigh 3.5 grams of 98% pure gold.

 

The obverse features a Doge kneeling before St. Mark, while the reverse features Christ in an oval frame.

 

Hard to judge condition from the photos but it looks XF or so.

Your's looks like it was from the mid 1700's. It's worth about $400 if it's real.
