1942 British 1/2 P error?

3 posts in this topic

I found this 1942-1/2 p George VI among some Brit coins we have. It is considerably smaller than the 1957 and 1960 1/2p coins we also have. I have several photos of the coin showing size difference. I also took photos along the rim of the coin to show the edges. Is this a coin that someone filed down to look like a larger denomination of a higher face value coin or is it a mint error?

Doesn't look filed down to me. How does the weight compare to that of a farthing? It kind of looks to me like a 1/2 penny struck on a type I farthing blank.
