Crossover for PL Designation

2 posts in this topic

I have a question about a potential submission. I’ll do my best to explain it.

I recently purchased a pre-1933 US gold coin in a non-NGC holder. This coin has reflective fields with cameo contrast and I think it has a good chance of receiving the PL designation at NGC. I would like to submit the coin in its current holder.

My question is: How do I request for the coin to be crossed (placed in an NGC holder) at any grade if the NGC graders designate it as DPL, PL or *Star*? However, if the coin is not designated as DPL, PL or *Star*, the coin would remain in its original holder.

Because of the complicated conditions, I was not sure how to prepare the submission form.

You can specify a minimum grade, so long as it is not higher than the existing one, but you cannot specify that it cross only if meeting particular characteristics.
