I am really and truly ashamed of the people who say they would keep it.

I would return all of it. I would hope for a reward, or hope someone doesn't claim it so that I could get it back because who doesn't want that much money, but I would turn it in. It is the only honest thing to do.

Return it :

A) It was obviously dropped there in error because of the deposit slips

B) Trust me if it was a Brinks truck that misplaced this money they would eventually find out who found the money and you would go to jail for not returning it.

This is different then finding a suitcase or bag full of money hidden or buried someplace out in the woods !!!

When I was a kid I found a pocketbook full of money of the Golf Course at my country club. There must have been over $ 100 in there. This was back in the 60’s when $ 100 was considered a lot of money to carry around. I took the pocket book back to the club house and found out who owned it. It would have been nice of the lady to give me a small reward of say $ 5 , but this cheap old lady offered to only buy me a coke . I declined and thanked her anyway. My parents and Aunt were furious because this women was considered to be one of the wealthy people in my town. Still I did the right thing because if I would have taken the money out and left the pocket book there I would have had a guilty consciousness as the money was never mine to begin with. I am also sure they would have figured out that I took the money because I was playing golf alone behind this women that day. I was brought up to be honest with good values .

I suspect that a very large percentage of people who say they would return the money - especially those people who have to say it publicly - would really keep the money if given the shot. It's human nature.

In this case I'd return the money but police confiscate large hoardes of cash they find now so in most cases I'd keep it.

As the guy in Hogans Heros said I see NOTHING .My luck if I turned it in Brinks would say they were missing 3million and what did I do with the rest of it .Now

what to do .Like Poker I think the move would be wait till sombody posted the money missing and the amount and the reward .Then turn it in .But turn it in if nothing was said or no deposit slips were there then finder keepers think Drug money

I had a good friend of mine work security at Jerry's Nugget in North Las Vegas. He told me a slot player found a paper bag just setting between the slots full of money and cocaine. He turned it in to security who promptly divided it amongst themselves.

I would return it because I believe in karma.

Maybe this found money was the good karma coming back to you.

Now you're kicking karma in the face and tempting the wrath of angry karma gods! :P;)

That's kind of the way I feel. If cops can confiscate money because they assume it's drug money then why can't everyone?

I would take the money to the casino and either double it or lose it. If I double it, I can give the first $250K back and keep the profit. If I lose it, oh well, it wasn't mine anyway, and the real owner already lost it.

Perhaps you are right. But, they were honest enough to admit their greed. There are morally corrupt people who don't even realize how evil they are.

When I read stories like this I am sure there are a lot of those who wish they could time travel back to that site and scoop up all the booty before anyone else would notice. You would need a pickup truck or better a box truck (stuff would be enclosed) - what would it take to get it picked up and put in truck 15 - 30 seconds?

What did they do with the money?

This money once signed for by Brinks becomes their responsibility. No one except Brinks would lose anything and even then, they have insurance to cover losses like this. I suppose these facts wouldn't be known to the finder,at first. I think some people who would report the money would be afraid to get caught if they didn't.And there are some who would be good samaritans and return it for no expectation of a reward. I voted keep it.

I wonder if one of the Brinks guys "lost" it on purpose.
