1 post in this topic

I was looking at one of my spare Morgans and noticed that it had a die clash. It is this 1883O

I thought that it would be fun to try to hunt down the VAM number. The only problem is that my coin doesn't match any of the VAMs on VAM World.

It is closest to VAM 7A But mine doesn't have the doubling of the 18-3, the repunched mint mark or the U clashing.

Here is what mine does have...

Date

"n" clash at Liberty's neck

Clash from eagles left wing to the n of In god we trust.

Clash to the right of eagle

Mint mark

There is also a light die crack that runs along the top of the word United and one that goes from the tip of the eagles left wing up to the dentils. The die cracks are light enough that I couldn't get my camera to picture them.

Can anyone help me figure out the VAM on this coin?
