two germany 3 mark, guess the grades

Both coins are slabbed by NGC. I think one is under-graded, and the other one is over-graded.

I would probably call the first one a 64, and the second one a 63, mostly because the gashes on his cheek look pretty severe.

I will go with MS-63 on both but what the heck do I know about grading these?

first one is a floating line au59-ms61

 

second one is also a floating line ms62-ms63

That's actually what I thought. I was thinking ms63-64 for the first one, and 63 for the second one, but...

I will let the pic tell the truth. I think these two coins are pretty close. ms65 and 62 really makes the big difference. That's why NGC kept saying buy the coin not the slab.

overall, the first coin is overgraded.

in hand sight seen the coins i bet are choice to really choice unc

 

sometimes with photos and also looking through plastic things get distorted

 

as the coins are better in hand

 

ihave photos of some coins that in hand are really superb but the photos really distort things

 

with proof and nice unc coins photos are well not really good showing the true coins surfaces

 

with nice dove grey circ coins in the fine and vf range photos do a much better job
