Neat coin! I tried to figure out by looking at the staples whether the reverse is right side up when you turn the coin over, or upside down. Couldn't tell.Anyway, when you turn the coin over side to side, and the back side is facing up like the front, that is "medal alignment".If the front faces up and the back faces down when the coin is turned side to side, that is "Coin Alignment".

 

As far as grade, I would go high VF, possibly XF because these earlier pieces were often weakly struck in places. If you are interested in Catalog value, (notoriously inaccurate) the alignment is important. Let us know and someone, if not me (I'll be out of town for a few days) will get back to you I'm sure.
