Registry Sets and "W" designations

I am considering buying a coin with a W designation (e.g., MS6x W). I know that NGC no longer used the W designation, but does it add anything to the score... like as if it had a star designation? THANKS!

Not only does it add nothing, it means nothing. The holders NGC was using when they did the W designation were not are good as present day holders, and many NGC "white" coins have turned yellow. Most did so rather rapidly, in fact. And, most W coins were definitely dipped, so one should keep that in mind when looking at W designated material.
