16S Barber dime-weird plastic ring

Here's another of my coins. Have you all ever seen this king of plastic ring around the rim of a coin? I got this thing for $15.00.Didn't even know the ring was there.How to remove it? How about a grade too? Thanks for looking,again.

Looks like a capsule. See if there's a seam at the edge - it should be two pieces. Just pop it open.

Nope.I's just the ring around the outside rim.Nothing covering face or reverse.Weird,huh?

 

Never mind.You were right physicsfan. I could not even see that it was covering the whole coin.I took another look and played around with it with my thumbnail and it popped open. I've never seen one of these before.Pretty cool little item.Looks like a fish scale

I'd say it has EF sharpness, but appears to dull from a cleaning. The small scrach on the face is in a bad spot.

Well, unless he sold it its actually prudden's coin. Can you try taking better pictures of it now that you've popped it out? Its really hard to tell anything about it in your original pics.
