Question about NGC grading

I have seen a lot of slabs of morgan dollars that will say "1889 S$1" but they are pennsylvania Mint coins. What does the "S$1" mean? I know SF mints are denotedo n the Slab as "1889 S S$1" but I still really want to know what the S$1 means. Thanks for any help.

S$1 means that it is a Silver Dollar, T$1 means that it is a Trade Dollar and G$1 means that it is a Gold Dollar.
