Counterfeit $3 Gold

This walked into the shop the other day. The owner suspected it was a counterfeit... and it was. I was able to purchase it as scrap for reference. I thought I'd share. It looks like a Syrian counterfeit and on a 10 point scale its about a 5 or a 6. Lots of luster...no detail...

on a ten point scale i give it a 1 IT IS A NO BRAINER COUNTERFEIT AND A TERRIBLE MADE EXAMPLE

 

even from arms length the color is all wrong

 

for example the missing seirf in the letter i in liberty unstruck u and n in liberty and also among 10 more obvious things that stand out on the coin give it away instantly in my minds eye

it is amazing how manytimes these lebanese counterfeits keep walking into shops

 

and even in todays knowledgable invironment many people even dealers are so easily fooled

 

but this is the purpose of the counterfeit
