$5 Uncirculated consecutive Star Notes 2003 Cleveland District

1 post in this topic

I have 100 mint uncirculated consecutive $5 star notes, year 2003 from the Cleveland District. Still in bank binder, but willing to split up if necessary.

Consecutively numbered from DC 00286301 to DC 00286400. These are John W. Snow bills. (Secretary of the Treasury) These were some of the last of the more classic looking bills before they were 'uglified' with the purple and other junk on the newest bills.

We got these for Christmas, but I'm really more of a coin collector, and don't have a lot of interest in paper bills. The person who gave them to us showed us a recent book value of $12.50 each. I've seen that the average recent $5 star bills on Ebay are going from about $13 to $18 each, with a typical price of $14 for uncirculated ones like these issued in the past 10 years.

Due to my wife's current pregnancy and a recent change in our health insurance, we just got finished paying $1,500 in medical bills, and have another $2,000 in medical bills coming. (that's $3,500 we wouldn't have had to pay a year ago, under the old plan) As such, we really can't afford to collect these - we really need the money to help pay the bills.

Assuming a conservative value of $12 each, I'd like to first offer the whole block of 100 at a discount of 30% - $840 total. This discount is intended as an incentive for someone to take the whole lot of them off my hands, so that I don't have to spend the time and effort on doing this over a number of months, and messing with all of the separate mailings, etc.

If I have no takers for the whole batch, then I will offer them consecutively, starting with DC 00286301, for $10 each.

Shipping will be at my actual cost for postage, packaging and insurance. If interested, simply send me an email at fuzzhead72@yahoo.com. Please note that I may not respond immediately, since I will be on the road on and off a bit for the next couple of days.

Thanks!
