Coin Photography Services

18 posts in this topic

I have about 40 Indian Head Proof coins that I need photographed. I do an OK job but have a hard time truly bringing out their beautiful toning. Shooting a toned IHC Proof in a slab is definately challenging. Is there anyone on CS that could recommend someone? Thanks for your help in this matter.

When coin photography gets mentioned, Mark Goodman and Bob Campbell always seem to come up. I just sent a dozen toners to Bob myself.

I was going to recommend Mark Goodman. Barndog has the contact information. He is a radiologist in southern Oregon. He also has a book out called "Numismatic Photography".

Also, Brandon from Polaris coins on ebay is excellent!

There are a good many people to find... the price for the services is what you have to consider.

In order of where I'd go... but then again, that's probably in order of price as well.

1. Brandon Kelley

2. Mark Goodman

3. Bob Campbell

4. Beckoca (can't remember his real name) http://becokacoins.com/CoinPhotography.cfm

his prices are very reasonable.

5. ME! Coindude baby! I do a pretty good job on coins with color and I charge a silver dime per photo. (unless you stop by my house... or silver prices go too high)

Another that came to mind is "Messydesk" from ATS. He recently won a photo contest on a 1912 MPL. I actually held the coin in hand and felt that his pictures were the best. Just a thought.

Jeremy Katz aka airplanenut from ATS did at one time. He hasn't posted on these boards since May '08.

And from what I've seen he only posts when he needs something. (tsk)

I only see him post when he's doing that fundraiser for charity. Nothing wrong with that, really.

Well, not to sound arrogant*, but folks seem to like my photos lately (part 1, 2, 3, 4). I have no pro experience doing coin photos for others, but I have sold photos in the past and since I'm relatively new to it, I'd be pretty cheap. Just an idea. However, I will say that I do not have experience with slabbed toned copper.

*I've gotten to the point where I can no longer tell if it's arrogance or if I actually am good enough at something to offer.

Modesty will get you nowhere. Your photos and presentation are fantastic. Definitely good enough to sell your services at a good price.

PS, I think Mr. Lehigh is being modest. I've seen many of his pictures and he does a fantastic job! Could you should some of your better examples? We'd all appreciate it.
