Can you tell thru the toning whether it has "orange peel" surfaces in the fields?

hi there kingkoin

the scratches and the dot are on the outside of the holder the coin is really a proof 68 but the services really do not like to certify ANY red brown indian cent in proof as a proof 68 no matter how perfect the surfaces or eye appeal

just the way it is with these private grading services

hi there newmis

well as for the orange peel surfaces yes? there is a thick texture to the surfaces underneath the iridescence, you can somewhat see this in the photo

the coin has an extremely wonderful iridescence and perfect surfaces with a thick skinned toning and textured surfaces underneath this toning no marks no hairlines no spots stains no toning dots no fly specks with really deep watery liquid mirrors and also a strong cameo even with the red brown surfaces but the cameo is not uncommon on proof indian cents

but the cameo is not uncommon on proof indian cents

Actually, bronze cameo proof IHCs are NOT common, - less than 1% are designated cameo by PCGS & NGC - But PCGS will not grade RB coins cameo and NGC will - still very few are around - cameos are almost always the 1st struck coins from the dies & usually have orange peel fields -

Nice coin, but probably not Proof 68 - I've seen several of the Proof 68s that have been graded & they make your heart skip a beat - Not too long ago I had an 1895 Pr67RD - an awesome coin - but neither service would slab it Pr68 - not sure why, but maybe it just didn't have that drop dead gorgeous look that gets that extra point. From what I see on the scanned/digital image your coin lacks that killer blast to get it to the next level - but on ther other hand, maybe in the "flesh" it has it & it doesn't show in the image. Still a very nice coin smile.gif
