Physics....you mention you are "out on the high seas" where are you actually? Are you a platform worker? If so, what are you doing? Sorry for hijacking the post!

I work as an engineer out on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. I run a suite of tools that tells the geologists everything they need to know about the rocks - where we are, what direction we are going, density, porosity, radioactivity, and just about anything else you can imagine. Basically, I gather the data and send it to town. My major was rocket science, but these guys pay a whole lot better.

I have been fortunate to be a degreed business major (with a 2 year tech degree too) working as an engineer for Rolls Royce Energy Systems. We actually design/build compressors and generators for Oil and Gas/Power Gen applications...maybe you have seen out "stuff" out there.
