Any Help on 1895 Incian Cent

I don't collect these but have been going through some old coin albums I had in storage and found this Indian. Is this the norm for an 1895? Note the blundered 8 and 9.

It looks to be in Au-50 condition with possibly a cleaned & dipped in the past.

I guess one really shouldn't grade from my crappy photos, it's from a early 90's ANACS holder in MS62 RB. my guess is it will make 63 at NGC or PCGS. In hand it's obviously never dipped/cleaned/recolored etc.

 

But what I am wondering about is the date, is this a recognized variety?

If you mean where the "9" looks somewhat like an "8", that's a result of die erosion, and is not a die variety.

If that color is right in that photo, it's all wrong for a coin with original surfaces.
