Nineteen of these banks issued Nationals.

The Act of May 24th, 1926 forbids the use of the words United States, Federal, or Reserve in the bank title on National Bank Notes. Although, the existing banks could continue using these words in their titles.

ANSWER:

 

The act forbade the use of the words, “United States”, “Federal”, or “Reserve” in the bank title. A grandfather clause permitted existing banks to continue using these words in their titles.
