CDN prices???

4 posts in this topic

Ok, I was looking at the CDB Quarterly II which has the Seated Dollars. I was looking at 1870 and noticed the prices are really high starting in XF and above. However the price guides are no where close to these prices.

Example 1870 P in CDN in AU is $4200.

According to Heritage the prices range from 800-1000, 750-1030, 600-825, 565-760, 565-775, and 700-900 in 50 to 55

In looking at Heritage past auctions coins in MS64 are in the 4,000 range.

So I am confused what the grey sheet quarterly is used for.

In most cases the CDN is used for buying cheap. That doesn't seem to be the case here....although I understand there's been strong price appreciation on these coins.

My August CDN Quarterly lists AU 1870 Seated Dollars at $800 (with a "+" sign). I don't know what you were looking at. (shrug)
