WORLD RESERVE COINS

10 posts in this topic

I was just wondering if the world reserve presidential coins offered not too long ago, being a comic book collector and not knowing too much about such things, have they gone up in value since the release?

Yeah, my grandma gave me one of those vault bricks. Its a cool idea and all, but what you are really paying for is double for the packaging. It'll take a while for the value to outpace that, if ever.

I guess the appeal is in the packaging and its value as a display item. The advertising copy about "never-circulated condition" and "remaining" and such like are emotive phrases that disguise the fact that there are lots and lots and lots of uncirculated examples of these coins around. There's no gold in them. In fact, the metal value is less than the metal value of a Susan B. Anthony dollar. So what we're left with is packaging and display.

I guess some of the display cases might be kind of neat for a historical show-and-tell maybe.
